How to plan a 1st Birthday Party

As a new parent, planning a first birthday party can be overwhelming. It’s a milestone event that you want to celebrate with family and friends. However, with so many details to consider, where do you even begin?

Here are some tips to help you plan your little one’s first birthday party:

Pick a Theme

Choose a fun and age-appropriate theme for the party. It can be anything from a favourite character to a colour scheme. Some ideas for a 1st birthday party theme could be:

Set a Date and Time

Choose a date and time that works best for your child’s nap and feeding schedule.
Keep the party duration short (1-2 hours) to prevent your little one from becoming overstimulated and cranky.

Select a Venue

Decide on a location for the party. It can be at your home, a park, or a rented space. Make sure the venue is safe and child-friendly.

Create Invitations

Design and send out invitations to your guests with all the necessary details, including the theme, date, time, location, and RSVP information.
You can also use online invitations to make it easier for guests to RSVP.

Plan the Menu and Choose a Cake

Choose food and drinks that are easy to serve and eat.
Finger foods, cupcakes, and healthy snacks are great options. Don’t forget to account for any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Decorate (my favourite!)

Set up decorations that match your theme.

One Today Birthday Banner

Plan age-appropriate activities for the children, such as bubble blowing, face painting, or a treasure hunt. You can also set up a photo booth for memorable pictures.

Party Favours

Send your guests home with a small token of appreciation. A goodie bag with age-appropriate toys or treats is a great idea.
