December Birthday Party Ideas: Seven New Party Themes That Have Nothing to Do with Christmas

A December birthday is a hard one. Half the friends are away, every venue is booked for Christmas parties, and the birthday child has had enough of tinsel. The answer is a party that is nothing to do with Christmas at all. These are the seven new party ranges from this autumn that we would pick for a December (or January) birthday, with the one piece from each that makes it work. 🎂

Kitten Club 🐱

The biggest new kids' range of the year. Cats in jumpers, cats on skateboards, cats at a party. The Kitten Club Small Party Plates x 8 are the plates, the Kitten Club Party Bags x 8 are the bags, and the cupcake kit covers the cake. It is the party for a five to eight year old who has a cat, or wants one.

Puppy Party 🐶

The dog version. The Puppy Party Cupcake Kit x 24 turns twenty-four plain cupcakes into a litter of puppies, and the dog candles, tattoos and stickers in the range do the rest. Pair it with plain colour tableware - the Emerald Green Small Party Plates x 8 or the Dusky Pink Side Party Plates x 8 from the new Meri Meri plain range.

Fairy 🧚

For a winter birthday, the fairy range is the one. The Fairy Party Garland Set is toadstools, fairies and foliage across the whole wall, and the Fairy Mushroom Party Napkins x 16 are the napkins. Add fairy lights and the room is a winter woodland. It also crosses straight into the Christmas decorations without a fight.

Dinosaur Kingdom 🦕

A new, softer dinosaur range in sage, terracotta and cream. The Dinosaur Kingdom Small Party Plates x 8 and the Dinosaur Kingdom Cupcake Kit x 24 toppers are the two to buy, and it is the dinosaur party that looks good in the photos.

Jungle Jamboree 🦁

Bright, loud and happy, which in December is exactly what you want. The Jungle Jamboree Large Party Plates x 8 are a different animal on every plate and the Jungle Jamboree Party Cups x 8 are the cups with ears. The whole range matches, so you can buy it all or just those two.

Western Cowboy 🤠

The one we did not expect to sell as well as it has. The Western Cowboy Boot Party Plates x 8 are boot-shaped, the Western Cowboy Boot Party Bags x 8 are boot-shaped too, and with a bandana each it is a whole party. Works for boys and girls equally, which is rarer than it should be.

Mermaid, race car and swan 🧜

Three more that are new this autumn. The Mermaid Fringe Party Garland Set and the Mermaid Swimming Party Plates x 8 for a mermaid party, the Race Car Garland Set and the Race Car Party Bags x 8 for a race car one, and the Swan Shaped Party Plates x 8 with the Swan Party Centrepiece for the prettiest table of the lot.

The three things every birthday needs 🎈

Whichever range you pick: the DIY Photo Party Crown Garland (a garland of crowns with a photo of the birthday child in each one), the Pink Happy Birthday Party Garland or its colourful cousins for the wall, and the Happy Birthday Mini Candle Set x 13 or the Gold Happy Birthday Cake Candle for the cake.

A note on December delivery 📦

Royal Mail gets slow from about the fifteenth of December. If the party is between the fifteenth and Christmas, order in the first week of December, and if it is in the first week of January, order before Christmas - we are here, but the post is not.
